Immunological and Morphological Assessment of Diagnostic Agglutinating Sera for Brucellosis

Abstract

The aim of this study was to obtain hyperimmune diagnostic agglutinating antiserum against brucellosis by hyperimmunizing experimental rabbits with the live vaccine strain Brucella abortus 19 (BA19) in combination with incomplete Freund’s adjuvant, and to evaluate the morphological changes occurring in the liver, spleen, and kidneys during the immunization process. The production of specific antibodies in the obtained antisera was assessed using serological methods, while morphological alterations in the internal organs were investigated by macroscopic and histological examinations. The results demonstrated that hyperimmunization induced the production of high-titer diagnostic hyperimmune antiserum in rabbits. In addition, active immunogenesis was observed in the spleen, whereas predominantly reversible morphological changes developed in the liver and kidneys. These findings provide a scientific basis for the development of high-quality diagnostic agglutinating antisera for the serological diagnosis of brucellosis and contribute to a better understanding of their associated morphological characteristics.
