Effect of Piles Installed Beneath a Building on the Horizontal Component of the Seismic Load Acting on the Structure

Abstract

Considering the influence of soil conditions on the intensity of seismic effects, it can be observed that the damage sustained by buildings varies significantly depending on the ground conditions. This study investigates the influence of piles installed beneath a building on the horizontal component of the seismic load acting on the structure. Furthermore, the variation of seismic effect with depth is examined.
